An iDrop is a compact instrument for electrowetting based droplet operations, such as dispensing, moving, splitting, merging, incubation, etc. It has the size of a 10-inch laptop. It is designed to have a rectangular opening for droplet observation or optical measurements when a microfluidic chip is inserted.
An iDrop is best suited to work with a microscope. When it is placed on the stage of a microscope, the objective lens can be brought to a close contact with the microfluidic chip, which makes your expensive purchase worthwhile.
An iDrop is equipped with an input port to receive trigger signals. This makes droplet selections possible to enable functions like cell sorting or particle recognition.
iDrop will be released in September of 2019. The initial control software will be running on a computer, and the mobile version of the software will be available before the year end.
